It is generally accepted that the Lessard family in Michigan is descended from Etienne DeLessard born 1623 in Normandy, France and came to Quebec in 1645 at the age of 22.  As of this writing we are not able to verify with firm documentation that the Michigan Lessards are descended from Etienne, however we are continuing to research this.

Much later (ca 1900)  Alphonse Lessard came to Michigan’s upper peninsula, as a very young man, from Maskinonge, Quebec.  This area is very near Trois Riviers, Quebec which is where Etienne Lessard settled when he came to the colony of New France (now Quebec) from Normandy.
