New England Colonial Ancestry

Our family history is rife with ancestors from England who helped to colonize what is now known as New England. Most settled in Massachusetts and Connecticut then, later, their descendants made their way westward to New York, Ohio, Michigan, Utah, California  and points in between.

John Arnold b. 1594 in England –a founder of Hartford, Connecticut in 1636.

John’s son, Joseph a founder of Haddam, Connecticut.

Daniel Shed b. 1620 in England–founded and settled Shed’s Neck and Braintree, Massachusetts in what is now metropolitan Quincy, Massachusetts.   His great grandson, Joseph Shed,  b. 1732, was a key participant in the Boston Tea Party.  Learn more about this by using the “Daniel Shed” link on the right– navigate to Joseph Shed’s (born 1732) page.
